Welcome!
Welcome to Arlington Community Garden's web site.
We appreciate your interest in this community project!
Arlington Community Garden was created at Tree Hill Nature Center in Jacksonville, Florida in August of 2010 with funds from the "Champion Zone Project". The purpose of the project was to improve the resiliency of the Arlington area. We do this by growing fresh, organic produce for the food pantry at Arlington Community Services and by working with Tree Hill to educate visitors and students about sound environmental practices and the importance of healthy eating.
We have donated over 7,000 pounds of organic produce to Arlington Community Services!
Our garden is located on the grounds of Tree Hill Nature Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and is managed by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville, Florida.
Note: We do not offer individual plots for rent. All plots are dedicated to growing food for the food pantry under the supervision of our grower and are not assigned to individuals.
We have recently renovated the garden, which now has all 4'x12' beds, new irrigation, and freshly created pathways. This much needed improvement will improve the growing conditions, provide ease of maintenance, and allow the garden to flourish for many more years to come. We encourage you to stop by and see the changes. The garden is located across from the amphitheater at Tree Hill Nature Center, and can be reached via the Joseph A. Strasser Boardwalk.
NOTE: We can always use the help of volunteers to grow food for the food pantry, but the garden is only open at specific hours. Please contact our grower, Nichole, at [email protected] to find out more and make volunteer arrangements. No experience is necessary as Nichole will meet you at the garden and instruct you.
